Held over 3 epic days during the Labour Day weekend in March, Space Fest is where dance lovers, beginners, and seasoned performers come together for an unforgettable experience of non-stop workshops, performances and so much more at The Space Dance & Arts Centre!

This isn’t just any open day – it’s a full-blown festival! From Saturday to Monday, we’re turning The Space Dance & Arts Centre into Melbourne’s ultimate dance party. Learn from top industry instructors, try out new dance styles, and take part in exclusive workshops across Hip Hop, Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Street Dance, and more. It’s your chance to challenge yourself, meet like-minded dancers, and immerse yourself in the world of movement, creativity, and passion.

But that’s not all. Space Fest is about community, energy, and celebrating all things dance! Enjoy live music, pop-up food stalls, giveaways, competitions, and a buzzing festival atmosphere. It’s the perfect way to connect with fellow dancers, unleash your inner performer, and soak up the electric festival vibes. There’s no better way to spend your Labour Day weekend!

Eden Read

Eden is renowned for energised, dynamic tap classes with theatrical flair. Embracing both professional and social dancers of all levels, his inclusivity makes him a sought-after educator across Australia’s leading performing arts institutions.

Ben Curé

Benjamin Curé was born and raised in Melbourne, training on full scholarships at both The Edge Performers School and the Space Dance and Arts Centre. In 2015, he founded Lion Heart Dance Company which has since produced multiple seasons of work.

Kyle Davey

Kyle’s dance training began at Dubbo Ballet Studio, Queensland Dance School of Excellence and The Australian Ballet School.

Natalya Bobenko

Natalya has now been teaching for over twenty years, participating in all Summer Schools, Winter programmes and guest teaching at the Australian Ballet School since 2000.

Originally from Adelaide, Australia, Maxwell has most recently been working as Associate Choreographer on “Spotlight Bar” and “Stage Struck” for Princess Cruises.

Kaitlin Malone is a contemporary artist, who has developed her artistic practice within the professional industry in Naarm/ Melbourne, Australia.

Jo Lloyd

Jo Lloyd is dance artist based in Naarm. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, she has been choreographing, performing and teaching extensively for over 20 years.

Phill Haddad

New Zealand born, Melbourne based choreographer, Phill Haddad, is an inspiring and exceptionally talented dancer and artist.

Saki Oyama

Saki was born and raised in Kumamoto, Japan, where she began studying Ballet and Modern/Jazz. Her teacher was British, so she trained in England every summer.

Gabrielle Wagner is a professional dancer originally from Queensland, and now based in Melbourne. She is passionate about inspiring students of all ages and skill levels to express themselves through movement.

Alana began her dance training under Karen Stephens at Melbourne Dance Academy, and as her for avidity for Theatre Jazz grew, she progressed to learn from greats at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance, leading her to perform on some of Melbourne’s iconic stages such as Her Majesty’s Theatre and Chapel Off Chapel.

What time does registration start for Space Fest?

Registration is open from 9:30 am on each day of the event.

Are there any age restrictions for attending Space Fest or participating in certain activities?

Adult Stream – 16 years plus

Youth Stream – 13 – 17 years

Can I bring my own food and drinks to Space Fest?

Yes, you certainly can, but if you are time poor and would like us to provide food you can order in advance for only $25 (includes a Sandwich, Salad and Pastry)

Can I pre-order lunch on the day?

No, but you can head down to Penance Cafe downstairs to buy something from there.

How long are the special offers on for?

The special offers are exclusively available during the Space Fest weekend. This means that the discounts, promotions, and any other special deals are valid only for the duration of the Space Fest event. Once Space Fest concludes, these offers will no longer be available. It’s important to take advantage of these special opportunities during the event to ensure you don’t miss out on any exclusive deals or discounts. 

Do I have to go to all the classes on the day?

No but you do get a raffle ticket for each class that you attend – this increases your chance to win one of our
amazing raffle prizes.

Do I still need to book into classes on the portal?

No, if you have booked for the whole day, you are eligible for all classes. If you don’t want to do Space Fest and are JUST here for one of the regular classes, then yes you can book on the portal for JUST that class.

When can I collect my pre-ordered Water Bottle?

Let us know upon your arrival that you have pre-ordered a drink bottle, and our staff will promptly retrieve it for you.

When will the raffle be drawn and when can winners collect their prizes?

The raffles will be drawn at the conclusion of the three-day festival. Winners can collect their prizes immediately following the announcement of the raffle results. Please stay tuned for updates on the exact timing of the draw and prize collection. If you are not on site at the time of the raffle draw we will contact you to share the news and arrange collection.

Is there parking available for attendees? If so, where can I park?

Are there any discounts available for students, seniors, or group bookings?

For this event, we have provided early bird pricing as a special offer. Apart from this, no other discounts are available.

Can I get a refund if I'm unable to attend Space Fest after purchasing a ticket?

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds for no-shows at Space Fest. Once tickets are purchased, they are non- refundable. However, you can transfer your ticket to someone else if you are unable to attend. Please contact us for assistance with ticket transfers.
