Adam Shutz

Adam’s love of dance began in 1992 when, after initially trying Latin American, he quickly found his passion in Ballroom and New Vogue. What started as a family obligation — his sister wanted to dance, so his mum decided Adam should too — soon became a competitive career spanning more than seven years, multiple partners and Australian titles in both Junior and Adult competition.

After taking a 23-year break from dancing, Adam returned to the floor at 40 and quickly rediscovered his passion. It wasn’t long before he became involved in teaching, progressing to become a qualified Level 2 dance teacher.

Over the past four years, Adam has taught Ballroom, New Vogue, Latin American and Street Latin to students ranging from complete beginners through to advanced and competitive dancers. He currently coaches competitive couples and individual competitors, while also helping students develop their confidence, technique and enjoyment of social dancing.

Adam has recently returned to competition himself, achieving first place in the Masters New Vogue category. He continues to compete and develop his own dancing alongside his teaching, bringing that ongoing experience back into the classroom.

Adam’s teaching is built around three things: musicality, technique and connection. He believes great dancing isn’t simply about knowing the steps — it’s about connecting with your partner, the music and your own movement. Precision and technique are important, but they should never come at the expense of enjoyment.

Whether you’re taking your very first steps, wanting to become more confident on the social dance floor, preparing for a wedding or performance, or looking to compete, Adam welcomes dancers of all levels and backgrounds.

His goal is to help every student move more, dance more, connect with others and discover what they’re capable of — while having fun along the way.

Dance beautifully. Move with confidence. Enjoy every moment on the floor.
